May’s been a pretty busy month so far. I’ve gotten a little behind in posting. Here’s what you have to look forward to this month: Exploring Horizons, our next featured video series. Next week’s video review will be Exploring Horizons Land of the Giants - San Teadoro Sardinia.

Exploring Horizons takes viewers off the beaten path and to rugged natural, cultural, and historical destinations all over the world.

Every single computer in the office keeps getting an error about the Java causing Flash to run slowly, which is making uploading videos to YouTube a royal pain right now. However, we do have some new additions to our videos; they’re part of a series called Global Treasures. Check them out!

From Portugese and Spanish influences to the culture and art of the Muslim population, this video is a must-see for those unfamiliar with “the city of many faces.”

The video includes trivia about the ancient village and its surrounding area.

In a nutshell

Vista Point: Casablanca is a good video for anyone unfamiliar about the slow pace and many facets of life in Casablanca or Morocco. Because of the laid back way of life and relaxed atmosphere, Vista Point clearly shows that Casablanca is a relaxing and culturally rich destination for most travelers.

I hope this list was somewhat helpful for the thrifty lovebirds out there who still haven’t planned their post-nuptial vacations.

 
 

Vista Point 04: New York is another half hour travel video by the same studio that brought us Vista Point: Paris. The two videos are similar- the same fast-paced style that relies heavily on music to build mood as the narrator takes viewers on a tour of The Big Apple.

Footage for the film was shot before 9/11, so the segment about the Twin Towers is now more of a trip back to simpler times than a realistic tour experience.

Highlights of the video include Greenwich Village, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Little Italy, and the New York Stock Exchange.

Much of the video focuses on Manhattan, or “the city that began to touch the sky.”

In a nutshell

Vista Point: New York, much like the Paris edition, is fast-paced and better for folks who want a quick overview of the city. While there are many historical tidbits thrown in about the city, if you want a detailed historical overview of the city or a more in-depth travel guide, there are other titles more suited for you.

I stumbled across The Lost Girls last October, and I was floored after I read the first posts. The story of The Lost Girls is the story of a group of women who grew tired of America’s modern rat race and decided to quit their jobs and travel the globe.

Through their travels, the women learn that there are other options for success than those conventionally presented. While their travels as a group are over, they still post regularly with their new exploits and points of interest they come up with. If you’re interested in reading more about them, I would suggest starting at the beginning of the blog and making your way back to the most recent posts.

Vista Point: Paris is a fast-paced travel video that manages to cram an entire tour of Paris into 26 minutes. It includes historical trivia and info about popular tourist sites, including churches, castles, museums, and points of interest from the French Revolution.

The musical score moves the pace along nicely; this isn’t a video for a leisurely audience. It’s more suited to viewers who want to learn more about the European city without having to sit down and watch a feature length film.

Video highlights include Notre Dame, or “the mother church of the nation,” The Louvre, and the final resting place of Napoleon.

In a nutshell

Vista Point: Paris is a great overview for people who are planning a trip to Paris for the first time or want to take a quick educational trip to the city from their own living rooms. For a more in-depth approach, you probably want to pick another title.

Since this is a travel video store, I plan to feature different travel video collections every month. This month’s pick:

Vista Point is a quick moving travel series that explores tourist destinations all over the world. From Paris to Kathmandu, the series combines music and video clips to move viewers from one location to another.

Vista Point also mixes historical information with interesting facts, offering popular tourist spots as well as sight-seeing points of interest off the beaten path.
